Butch is captured by de-evolutionists who believe he's their perfect convert, but he escapes, using his forcefield belt to repel their attacks. Realizing they see him as a savior, he decides to exploit this. Meanwhile, Vic is imprisoned by Von Clokmann, but Floyd helps him escape, and Zot flies him to safety where Jenny and Peabody await. The heroes remain incognito due to the Sirius populace believing they violated holy law. They reunite at a sanctuary cathedral, only for Peabody to shoot Vic—he's under 9-Jack-9's control. As Von Clokmann prepares to execute them, Butch and his de-evolutionist army attack, transforming guards into monkeys. 9-Jack-9 praises the chaos and tells Zot he enjoyed the events, with Zot partially forgiving him, blaming the king for his parents' deaths. Jack teleports away, promising a future showdown with Zot. Vic recovers, Peabody is repaired, and the conspirators dwindle, with Schrapp ultimately using Zot's actions as a pretext to attack Earth. Adam Philips and Kurt Busiek are credited as ZOT story consultants. A backup feature provides handbook entries for Dekko and Bellows.
