The "Return to New York" trilogy reaches its violent conclusion as the Turtles' assault on the Foot headquarters fractures into two fronts. While Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello battle the terrifying Shredder Elite and a legion of armed guards, Leonardo breaks away to find the architect of their misery. On the rooftop, Oroku Saki reveals his gruesome resurrection: after his "death" in issue #1, the Foot used a colony of mutated worms to consume his remains and reconstruct his body and consciousness. This biological horror fuels a brutal katana duel that pushes Leonardo to his limit. Meanwhile, Raph sabotages the building’s structural integrity with a rocket launcher, causing the roof to split and creating the opening Leonardo needs. In a final, decisive mid-air strike, Leo decapitates the Shredder just as the fortress is consumed by a massive explosion. The saga ends in the harbor, where the four brothers restore their family's honor by burning Saki’s remains on a floating funeral pyre.
