Haunted by vivid nightmares of a melting, red-haired Lex Luthor, Clark Kent wakes to a world that has begun to rewrite history. Despite Luthor's villainous past, the economic vacuum left by his death has sparked labor strikes and civil unrest, leading the public to view the fallen tycoon as a martyr. Superman is horrified to find himself the villain in the public eye, with tabloid sensationalism even suggesting he helped Luthor fake his death. Realizing that the truth is being drowned out by gossip, Superman hands over the official LexCorp crash data to Cat Grant for a televised exposé, hoping to restore order. Meanwhile, in Australia, the true nature of Luthor's "legacy" begins to take shape as his inner circle prepares to unveil a young, vibrant successor.
