A horrifying discovery at Gotham Harbor—a yacht full of skeletons—leads Batman on the trail of a lethal virus known as "Green Snow." The threat turns global when a green blizzard begins to fall over Metropolis, instantly weakening Superman and sickening the populace. The architect of the chaos, a scientist calling himself "The Alchemist," demands a massive ransom to stop the storm. While Superman retreats to the lead-shielded safety of the subway to recover his strength, Batman identifies the Alchemist as Dr. Fenton Keene. Suspecting that Keene has the only antidote, the duo realizes the doctor is purposefully stalling. In a brilliant display of psychological warfare, Batman and Commissioner Gordon stage a fake news broadcast to convince Keene his plan has already succeeded, tricking the ego-driven villain into revealing the formula.
