The Watchmen softcover trade paperback is the definitive collection of the 12-issue limited series that redefined the superhero genre. Widely considered one of the greatest graphic novels of all time, it is the only one to appear on Time’s list of the 100 best novels. The standard softcover edition, often referred to as the "evergreen" or 2019 edition, collects the entire original run in a single high-quality volume. 

Set in an alternate 1985 where the United States won the Vietnam War and Richard Nixon is still president, the story explores the moral rot and psychological trauma of people who choose to wear masks. It is a dense, multi-layered work that features "meta-fiction" elements, such as excerpts from a fictional autobiography called Under the Hood and a pirate comic book within the story titled Tales of the Black Freighter.
