While the heroes initially attempt to cooperate, the manipulative influence of Krona and the Grandmaster causes deep-seated tensions to flare, physically and ideologically pitting the two teams against one another. As the hunt progresses, the very fabric of time and space begins to warp, leading to surreal encounters where heroes find their histories shifting and their rosters expanding to include every member in their respective histories. The issue serves as a massive celebration of comic book history, culminating in a chaotic scramble that threatens to tear the newly combined universe apart before the game is even finished.
