Bartman finds his heroic career in jeopardy after Kent Brockman uses his influential news broadcast to launch a character assassination campaign against him. By painting the vigilante as a public enemy, Brockman successfully poisons the opinion of the entire town, leaving Bart Simpson feeling isolated and unappreciated. Fed up with the ungrateful citizens of Springfield, Bart decides to walk away from his crime-fighting persona and officially retires his mask and cape.
